Hatsuseno Alpha is a girl who runs a small Cafe Alpha in the remote country side. If she hadn't mentioned herself to be a robot we would never guess. Alpha's life is calm and slow-pace, yet anything but boring. Alpha enjoys drinking coffee, seeing her few neighbors, making new friends, riding her motorbike along overgrown roads, watching the sunset, swimming in the sea. She's kind, cheerful and optimistic. She lives through small adventures and little by little learns more about people and the world she lives in.
The world of YKK is some time in the future. It's strangely, incredibly beautiful. Because of some cataclysm in the past, the level of the ocean keeps slowly rising; there are heavy hurricanes and typhoons every now and then. Japan is isolated from the rest of the world. The techno era of skyscrapers, megapolises, media, virtual space and globalism has completely gone and was forgotten. Nature takes back its space, once conquered by civilization.
There are not many people anymore, and they went down to peaceful and simplystic, plain, living with doing simple jobs, growing vegetables, visiting each other, writing letters by hand. What has happened in the past? Why is it so now? How were these human robots created and what for? Where is this world going to? This future world is full of mysteries for readers. The story slowly uncovers some secrets and keeps others.
YKK has very well-worked plot and the characters are plausible and very charming. It has many curious turns that open a new piece of that world. The manga somehow gives quite a few of simple, witty and wise observations on life and people. All the stories are very-very kind and nice.

Mihama Academy - on the surface, a closed learning environment established to nurture students who find themselves at odds with the world around them; in actuality, an orchard-cum-prison built to preserve fruit that has fallen too far from its tree.
Whatever the circumstances behind its establishment, Mihama Academy is at present home to five female students, all with their own reasons for "enrollment." For better or worse, each girl has established a routine obliging of her current situation; life moves at an idle, yet accommodating pace within the walls of Mihama.
Yet with the arrival of the institute's first male student, the nearly preposterously opaque Kazami Yuuji, the students at Mihama begin to fall out of step with their predetermined rhythms. Will Yuuji prove to be the element the girls around him needed to take hold of their lives once more, or will the weight of their pasts prove too steep a wall to overcome?
And in the first place, just who is Kazami Yuuji? While the true nature of the "job" he is wont to alight to at the most haphazard of moments remains shrouded in secrecy, one thing is for certain - his encroachment upon the quiet orchard known as Mihama Academy will prove itself momentous in one way or another. And of course, one cannot discount the possibility that perhaps Yuuji himself carries the weightiest past of any of the students...

Recipient of the 2007 Kodansha Manga Award, Shounen Category. Itoshiki Nozomu is the world's most negative person. To his way of thinking, there is no hope or meaning in this existence. Even the three kanji of his name become the two-kanji word zetsubou, "despair", when compressed. What an ironic twist of fate, then, that he becomes teacher to a class containing his precise opposite, the invincibly positive-minded Fuura Kafuka. Watanuki Kimihiro is a high school student plagued by yokai and ayakashi – spirits with a strong attraction to him. The spirits are invisible to others and encounters with them are extremely troublesome. When he stumbles into a shop that grants wishes, however, events in his life promise to become more unusual. The shop is owned by Yuuko Ichihara – a mysterious and beautiful (sometimes playful) witch of many names and esoteric renown. For a price, she offers to grant Watanuki's wish to be rid of the spirits. The price, according to Yuuko, must be of equal value and so, as payment, he temporarily becomes Yuuko's part-time employee – a maid to be precise! Watanuki's job also seems to consist of small errands dealing with the supernatural including the household chores. His love interest Himawari Kunogi, and "rival" Doumeki Shizuka, occasionally join him in his work as per Yuuko's request. The three become increasingly close despite Watanuki's annoyance with Doumeki. Yuuko constantly refers to "hitsuzen", meaning inevitability, destiny, or fate, as being the driving force in the world. She states that there is no such thing as coincidence, and that every single action and decision is inevitable, because without them, other related events in the future could not happen.
