I'm slowly feeling like a hostage reading this...I don't hate the story but I'm bored, confused and don't see where the story is going? Are we killing the emperor? Are we in love? Does FL have the ability to experience the slightest bit of joy or is she literally just the most miserable person ever written? There have been stories where I can understand a character's struggle to trust and love and find happiness in life while being consistently beaten down by it but like...I feel like Sally has made being a miserable bitch a hobby with a side of inability to even inner monologue her actually plans. We the readers shouldn't be as in the dark as the ML, if we knew what her goddamn plans and issues were I could sympathize and care about her more but the story just feels so....empty.
