This plot point made angry, ngl - not at the girl but at society, as a whole as it is a reflection of current irl sentiments (look at the U.S and them taking away women's rights to bodily autonomy, and the rise of so-called male loneliness epidemic being blamed on women for choosing self-improvement over burdening themselves with man-children - btw, the loneliness epidemic is a class issue, not a gender one. It disproportionately affects poor people regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, etc).It just goes to show how women have always been seen as second class citizens and commodities to be traded between, and for the benefit of, those in power.Sorry for getting philosophical and political. It just grinds my gears that women and girls aren't given the same opportunities to self-determine as our counterparts.
